Volleyball Drops Pair No. 12 Otterbein

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) matches to league-leading Otterbein University on Wednesday. The Cardinals took match one 25-14, 25-17, 25-18 and won the nightcap 25-6, 25-12, 25-16.

In the first match, Otterbein relied on the trio of Morgan Hartman, Amber Greeley and Julia Vermilion to combine for 34 of the team's 47 kills. Both Greeley and Vermilion hit a .368 clip while Hartman led all individuals with 15 kills and 35 swings. Carlie Craycraft dished out 29 assists in two sets played while libero Hillary Sterett led the squad with 14 digs.

Victoria Long led Wilmington with seven kills, but Joe Bebe had the best hitting percentage with a .357 (five kills, zero errors and 14 attempts). Sofia Thomas and McKenzie Stringer combed to assist on 18 of the Quakers' 22 kills while defensive specialist Blake O'Brien had 15 digs. The one statistical category that the hosts outperformed the visitors in was blocking with Otterbein tallying six block assists compared to Wilmington's eight. A trio of Quakers – Sydney Geibel, Cierra Bolender and Bebe – all had three blocks with Bebe having the match's only two solo blocks for either side.

In match two, Otterbein hit a .375 clip as a team and was led by both Greeley and Tasia Lauth with nine kills each. Kailey Mishler dished out 25 assists while Bridget Oder added 14 digs playing libero in match two.

For Wilmington, Long tallied seven kills and a .200 clip while Geibel had four kills and a .364 attack percentage. Stringer dished out 10 assists while Thomas had seven.

Wilmington heads to Baldwin Wallace University for a pair matches on Friday.
