Women’s Track and Field Fifth at Jessica Starks Open

BEXLEY, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's indoor track and field team traveled to Capital University to compete in the Jessica Starks Open on Saturday. Of the 12 competing teams, the Fightin' Quakers came in fifth with 34.5 points.

Lauren Stacy led the way for the Quakers, earning the team's only first-place finish of the afternoon. Stacy placed first in the weight throw from a toss of 16.58 meters. She also claimed third in the shot put with a put of 12.84 meters.

Lisa Bailey was the next top finisher for the team, earning third in the long jump with a distance of 4.95 meters.

Fourth-place in the 60-meter hurdles was claimed by Emma Burke with a time of 9.81. Burke also earned seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:07.00.

Other top 10 finishes in the meet included: Zara Zeller, eighth-place in the weight throw (12.35 meters); Miranda Gibson, ninth-place in the long jump (4.24 meters) and eighth-place in the 400-meter dash (1:07.17); Ryan Allen, tied for eighth-place in the pole vault (2.60 meters); and Allison Helmke, tenth-place in the 800-meter run (2:50.07).

Wilmington continues their season at the Cedarville Invitational on February 2.
