The Wilmington College women's basketball team continues to work toward the second seed, and double bye, for the upcoming Ohio Athletic Conference tournament.
SERIES: Wilmington owns a commanding 30-4 lead in the series with half of the losses coming within the last five years.
LAST MEETING: All 12 players scored as the Wilmington College women's basketball team routed Marietta, 90-60, Saturday in Ohio Athletic Conference action at Fred Raizk Arena in Hermann Court.
Four players reached double figures, and the 90 points were the most scored in regulation since Wilmington dropped 91 on John Carroll late in the 2010-2011 season. The Fightin' Quakers and Marietta combined for 205 points in a 103-102 double overtime victory two seasons ago which represents that last time Wilmington scored at least 90 points in a game.
Sophomore Mackenzie Campbell led the four players in double figures with 15 points, 13 in the first half, with five rebounds, three blocks and a steal. Junior Savannah Hooper reached double digits for the second time this season with 12 points on four three-pointers.
Senior Mary Moyer added 12 points, six assists, two rebounds, two blocks and two steals, while senior Ashley Andracki dished out a career-high seven assists with 10 points and three rebounds. Senior Brittaney Jefferson had a career-high five steals and a season-high eight boards.
MEET MARIETTA: The Pioneers come into the game riding a three-game winning streak, and in fourth place of the Ohio Athletic Conference standings. Guard Brooke Borich leads the team in scoring with 12.9 points and guard Amisha Herd is second on the team with 10.8 points.
Forward Corrie Burkhardt leads the team with 7.6 rebounds and is third with 9.3 points.
TIED FOR SECOND: Wilmington is currently tied with Baldwin Wallace for second place in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The two teams are four games behind league leader Ohio Northern. They will meet in the season-finale to possibly determine the second seed and the second double bye.
HITTING THE BOOKS: Sophomore Mackenzie Campbell earned CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District VII honors this week. The junior academically sports a 3.97 GPA in Exercise Science. She moves to the national ballot, and the team with national team will be announced on February 22.
1,000 POINTS: Senior Brittaney Jefferson is the 14th player in school history to reach 1,000 points, and the first since Kortney Kin achieved the feat in 2010.
CAMPBELL'S SOUP: Sophomore Mackenzie Campbell leads the team and is second in the conference with 16.2 points per game. Campbell has scored at least 10 points in all but two games this season.
She is third in the league, and is the top guard, making 51.1 percent of her shots.
PROUD MARY: Senior Mary Moyer leads the OAC in rebounding with 9.2 boards, including a career-high 18 rebounds earlier this season. She has three double-doubles this season and 10 in her career. Moyer has eight double-figure rebounding efforts this year. Her 2.6 assists are second on the team.
IT'S A COLE WORLD: Senior Ja'Cole Tabor comes off the bench to provide the Fightin' Quakers with whatever is needed. A natural wing, Tabor has played all five positions this season.
SCORING: Wilmington College is fifth in the OAC, scoring 67.6 points per game, and third in scoring defense – allowing 60.4 points per game.
