Softball Hosts Hanover in Non-Conference Action Thursday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College softball team steps out of Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play on Thursday when Hanover College comes to the WC Softball Complex for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Hanover. The Fightin' Quakers are 13-15 overall after sweeping Ohio University Chillicothe in two games on Sunday. The Panthers stand at an event 14-14 overall and host Franklin College on Wednesday.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 11th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. She is the winningest softball coach in school history and is also the College's associate director of athletics. Cori Collinsworth is Hanover's softball coach having spent the previous three years at the University of Indianapolis.

Hitters to Watch: Savannah Hooper and Alecia Kemp lead the Wilmington offense with 29 hits each while Allison Pierce and Megan Crager have each driven in 13 runs. Savannah Hooper has stolen 13 bases and scored a team-high 22 runs. Dabney Skutt leads the Panthers' offense with a .458 batting average, 44 hits, 11 doubles and 19 RBIs.

Pitchers to Watch: Beth Persicano and Grace Shell have continued to share time for the Quakers as both of them have hurled at least 85 innings. Presicano is 6-9 with a 4.39 ERA this season with 46 strikeouts while Shell is 7-6 with a 3.63 ERA to go along with her 65 strikeouts. The two have combined to pitch 21 complete games.  The Hanover duo of Sydney Griffin and Lily Beurman has pitched all but one out for the Panthers this season. Both feature under 3.50 ERAs.
