LOUISVILLE, KY – Three Wilmington College softball players were named Scholar Athletes from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for their work in the classroom for the 2016-17 academic year.

Savannah Hooper (Leesburg, OH/Wilmington), Sawyer Hooper (Leesburg, OH/Wilmington) earned the honor for the second year, while Jillia Cook (Canton, OH/Glen Oak) is a first-time recipient.

"I'm extremely proud of these three young ladies," said Wilmington softball coach Beth Floyd. "It is truly a great honor to be an All-American scholar athlete. All three are extremely hard workers and leaders in the classroom and on the field."

Student-Athletes who achieve a 3.5 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale are recognized as NFCA Scholar Athletes.
