Men's Cross Country finishes seventh in OAC

DELAWARE – The Wilmington College men's cross country team finished seventh in the 10-team Ohio Athletic Conference meet Saturday held on the Delaware campus of Columbus State University.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Junior Griffin Stith (Batavia, OH/Batavia) was the first WC runner to cross the finish line, finishing 36th (27:45.1).
  • Sophomore Rick Pride (Mount Orab, OH/Western Brown) was the next runner to complete the 8K course, finished 43rd in 38:35.1.
  • Wilmington's scoring was rounded out by junior Cameron Erwin (South Vienna, OH/Northeastern), who finished 48th (29:34.2), followed by sophomore Elliot Phillimore (Old Fort, OH/Old Fort) in 49th place (29:36.4) and freshman Jeff Clydesdale (Circleville, OH/Logan Elm) in 50th place (29:50.8).

"I'm proud of both teams," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "They have persevered all season long. The guys could have given up early in the season when we lost our number one guy to a season-ending injury, but the hung in and fought."
