Men take second in season-opener @DubC_XCTR

RICHMOND, Indiana- The Wilmington College Men's Cross Country team started their season on Friday at Indiana University-East's Red Wolf Rumble. Earlham College and Cincinnati Christian University also participated in this season opening event. The Wilmington Men finished 2nd overall in the 5k race, only 16 points behind Indiana University-East.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Junior Griffin Stith (Batavia, OH/Batavia) was the team's top finisher, finishing in 3rd place with a time of 16:53.8.
  • Fellow Junior Hunter Stith (Batavia, OH/Batavia) clocked in with the second best time for the Fightin' Quakers at 17:33.9. This time placed him in 6th.
  • Junior Cameron Erwin (South Vienna, OH/Northeastern), Sophomore Rick Pride, and Freshman Cameron Phelps (Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) ran in for 11th, 13th, and 15th respectively.

  • "I am pleased with how the men ran. They got out quicker than what they should have and it caught up with us on the second half of the race, but I am still pleased with this being the first race of the year."
