Another 1-nil loss for @DubC_MSoccer

BETHANY, WVa. – Playing a man down for the majority of the game, the Wilmington College men's soccer team suffered its second consecutive 1-nil loss Saturday against Bethany in non-conference action.

"Both teams battled hard," said Wilmington head coach Bud Lewis. "We knew they had a good senior forward and if we gave him a good look, he could score."

It didn't take long for the Bisons to take the lead as they scored the game's lone goal in the 11th minute.

Both Niklas Martensson (Torna Hallestad, Sweden / NTI) and Daniel Kappelin (Pixbo, Sweden / IHGR) each were given two yellow cards as Wilmington was carded seven times, while Bethany only received one yellow card.

Bethany recorded 10 of its 14 shots in the first half, and held a 14-7 shot advantage.

The Fightin' Quakers had three good scoring changes, the best coming with 15 minutes remaining, as sophomore Benny Spirk (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) just missed the frame.

Senior Nick Baker (Indianapolis, IN/Decatur Central) made six saves on seven shots.

Wilmington (3-3-2) travels to Hanover 5 p.m. Tuesday for another non-conference game.
