BEXLEY – The Wilmington College men's soccer team fell to Capital Wednesday, 2-1, in Ohio Athletic Conference action at Bernlohr Stadium.

Wilmington falls to 3-11 on the season, 0-4 in the OAC, and the Fightin' Quakers have now lost six straight games.

"It was a disappointing result," said Wilmington head coach Bud Lewis. "The players worked hard, and you definitely can't find any fault in their effort."

Senior Ethan Zimpfer (Botkins, OH/Botkins) scored his second goal of the season, beating the goalkeeper in a one on one situation, to give Wilmington the 1-0 lead just seven minutes into the game.

Capital gained the equalizer in the 17th minute, and scored the game-winner in the 42nd minute. The Crusaders were aggressive all night long, forcing eight offsides calls – including six in the first half.

The Fightin' Quakers were outshot by CU 16-10, with the Crusaders having a huge 11-4 advantage. Despite being outshot, Lewis didn't feel like Capital created many dangerous chances.

Lewis added that Wilmington had multiple balls near the goal mouth by the Fightin' Quakers couldn't finish.

Freshman Nick Latessa (Englewood, OH/Northmont) recorded four saves on six shots in playing all 90 minutes.
