Wilmington suffers a loss to Muskingum to end the regular season

New Concord, Ohio -- The Wilmington College football team lost in a tough game 41-7 against Muskingum University. It was yet again a tale of two halves specifically for the defense this game against Muskingum.  The Wilmington offense struggled to get the ball in the end zone but the third and fourth quarter the Wilmington defense only allowed 7 points in the second half for back to back weeks. Wilmington falls to 2-8 overall, 1-8 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Muskingum improves to a 2-8 record, 1-8 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

In the loss, quarterback Luke Creditt threw for 149 yards and completed one touchdown and three interceptions.

Wide receiver Ameer Jackson led the way for Wilmington totaling 5 catches and 74 yards.

Eric Flynn Jdr. led the rushing attack for the Quakers by compiling 53 yards on 15 attempts.


Four different Quakers chipped in defensivley durnig the game with all four compiling seven total tackles a piece. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Wilmington came out of the gates quick with scoring on the first drive of the game. Creditt was able to throw five completions on the drive with finishing it off throwing to wide receiver Tim Murphy for a 15 yard touchdown pass to begin the game leading 7-0.  The drive lasted 2:59 and Wilmington went 68 yards on seven plays.  The next four drives for Wilmington resulted in three punts and one interception while Muskingum's offense was hitting on all cylinders.  Muskingum totaled five drives in the first half and all five led to touchdowns.  At the half Muskingum led 35-7.

During the second half Wilmington's defense was stout and only allowed one touchdown by Muskingum.  Wilmington's defense resulted in the Muskingum offense either losing the ball on downs or punting on seven of their eight drives in the second half.  Wilmington was unable to muster anything offensively, while the Muskigum defense kept them in check all afternoon.  This resulted in Wilmington losing on the afternoon by a score of 41-7

 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Creditt totaled 149 yards throwing on the day, with recording one touchdown pass and adding throwing three interceptions.

Flynn Jr. rushed for 53 yards on 15 attempts.

Ameer Jackson totaled five catches on 74 yards receiving.

 

Four separate Quaker defenders totaled 7 tackles each.
