@DubC_Football suffers road loss to JCU

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH – The Wilmington College football team fell to John Carroll Saturday, 72-14, in Ohio Athletic Conference action at Don Shula Field.

John Carroll, who started the season ranked eighth nationally, finished the game with 51 straight points. The Blue Streaks racked up 626 yards rushing, 351 on the ground.

After JCU took the early lead, Wilmington went on a seven-play, 79-yard drive – capped with a seven-yard touchdown run by senior Eric Flynn, Jr. (Cleveland, OH/Central Catholic).

A pair of scores - including a 21-yard interception return for touchdown - allowed the Blue Streak to seize a 21-7 lead.

However, senior Luke Creditt (Wilmington, OH/Waynesville) connected with P.J. Meyer (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) on a 75-yard scoring strike. It was the longest play of the season for the Fightin' Quakers.

Creditt finished 7-of-14 for 147 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. It was his 10th multi-interception game of his career, and Wilmington is 0-16 when Creditt throws a pick. In contrast, the Fightin' Quakers are 2-3 when he doesn't.

Flynn, Jr. finished with a team-high 62 yards on 11 rushes, while Meyer had a team-high 76 receiving yards on two catches.

Senior C.J. Thompson (Cincinnati, OH/Northwest) pulled down a team-high eight tackles with 1.5 for loss, while sophomore Bryan Gonzalez (Miami, FL/Jackson) added seven tackles. Senior David Henry (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) added six tackles and a forced fumble.

Wilmington (2-2 overall, 1-2 OAC) travels to Baldwin Wallace 2 p.m. Saturday.
