(CINCINNATI, Ohio) – It was the final dual of the 2023-24 season for the Wilmington College wrestling team Wednesday night as they battled the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders at Mount St. Joseph University. The Purple Raiders wrestled the Lions prior to their dual with Wilmington. The Quakers dropped the dual 45-6 and finish their dual season 1-8 overall and 1-6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).

The 125- and 133-pound weight classes were forfeits for Wilmington, giving Mount Union a 12-0 lead before 141 pounds was a double-forfeit. At 149 pounds, Rylan Hurst lost via tech. fall and Aaron Pardo lost by tech. fall at 157 pounds.

Garrett Simmons was pinned at 165 pounds and Alexander Ruth lost via tech. fall at 174 pounds. The 184-pound weight class was a forfeit for Wilmington to make the score 39-0, as Caleb Tackett was the last chance for Wilmington to pick up a match victory at 197 pounds.

Tackett was up for the task and pinned Brayden McFetridge in 18 seconds. McFetridge got an initial takedown and three-point near-fall to go up 6-0, but a Tackett escape and takedown was all he needed to get the fall and six points. This was Tackett's second victory by fall this season. The 285-pound weight class was a forfeit for Wilmington to take it to the final score of 45-6.
