Quakers Compete at the OAC Duals Saturday in Tiffin, Ohio

(TIFFIN, Ohio) – The Wilmington College wrestling team competed at the OAC Duals today, hosted by Heidelberg University. They wrestled Heidelberg, Otterbein University, and Ohio Northern University.

They began their day against Heidelberg and lost the dual 46-3. Garrett Simmons picked up the lone win of the dual for the Quakers, a 14-7 decision victory at 165 pounds over the Student Princes Sam Thompson. This was the first win of the season for Simmons. Caleb Tackett wrestled a close match for the Quakers at 197 pounds against Aidan Belgiorno but dropped a 12-10 decision.

In their second dual of the day, they lost to the Otterbein Cardinals, 52-5. Their win in the match came at 197 pounds where Tackett won 21-3 for a technical fall at 1:39 into the contest. He beat Caiden Hooks for his team-leading fourth win of the season.

Their final dual was a 60-0 loss to Ohio Northern. Tackett was wrestling a solid match for the Quakers at 197 pounds but was forced to default the match due to injury at the 6:05 mark in the contest.

What's Up Next

The Quakers are now 1-4 overall in dual action this season and 1-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).

They return to Hermann Court for their next competition, when they host a dual against the Thomas More University Saints on February 1st at 7:00 P.M.
