Starckey named D3football.com All-North Region

Coming off earning MVP honors of the National Bowl Sunday, Wilmington College senior Tarrell Starckey picked up third team All-North Region honors from D3football.com, the website announced Monday (December 7, 2015).

"It is good to see Tarrell being recognized for his play this season by being named to the All Region Team," said Wilmington head coach Stacey Hairston. "Tarrell worked extremely hard this season to help our team in any way he could. I take it as an honor for myself that I was able to coach Tarrell his entire college career. Players like Tarrell don't come around every year. I am very happy for Tarrell and what he has done here at Wilmington College."

Starckey (Richmond, VA/Highland Springs) earned first team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors for the second time in his three-year Wilmington career. He made the transition from linebacker, where he was a first-team selection in 2014, to defensive back this season.

He led all OAC defensive backs with 104 tackles and was fifth with seven pass breakups. Starckey finished with 293 tackles in his three-year Wilmington career – which ranks his eighth all time.

Starckey is just the second Wilmington defensive player, joining Chad Otte in 2006, to earn All-Region honors from D3football.com. The website is in its 11th season naming an all-region team.

In three seasons, Starckey recorded 293 tackles, which leaves him top 10 all-time in Wilmington history.
