AUSTINTOWN – Wilmington College senior punter Cole Voltz was named Ohio Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced today (October 19, 2015).

Voltz (Mt. Sterling, OH/Madison Plains) punted six times in Wilmington's 21-14 loss to Baldwin Wallace, dropping three of them inside the 20 yardline with zero touchbacks.

"Cole has always had the leg strength to punt the ball very long," said Wilmington head coach Stacey Hairston. "What he has struggled with is his consistency. When he kicks the ball with more consistency, he can be the best punter in the nation because of his leg strength. He was consistent against BW, and his results showed it. I am very happy that he was rewarded by being the OAC Special Teams Player of the Week. "

Voltz averaged 42 yards per punt, and if he was eligible, he would be second in the OAC in punting average. He isn't eligible because he has participated in 75 percent of the team's contests.

Wilmington (1-5 overall, 0-5) hosts top-ranked Mount Union 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
