The Wilmington College softball team rebounded from a disappointing game one loss to salvage a non-conference split with Mount St. Joseph Sunday at the Wilmington College Softball Complex.

GAME ONE: MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 8, WILMINGTON 7 (8 INN.)

• The Lions scored five of their eight runs over the final three innings to post the comeback victory.
• Wilmington is now 0-4 this season in extra-inning games.
• WC came out strong with four innings in the first inning and two in the second to chase the Mount St. Joseph starter. Wilmington hit around in the opening inning with freshman Jillia Cook (Canton, OH/Glen Oak), freshman Kaylee Barber (Columbus, OH/Westland) and sophomore Allison Pierce (Troy, OH/Troy) recording RBI.
• Junior Savannah Hooper (Leesburg, OH/Wilmington) scored on a wild pitch in the second, and senior Becca Carpenter (South Charleston, OH/Southeastern) brought home freshman Grace Yoder (Springboro, OH/Springboro) on a ground out.
• Cook finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. It was her fifth multi-hit game of the season.
• Barber finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
• Carpenter started, and allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits in five innings.
• Senior Kerrie Trautman, 1-2, (Hartville, OH/Field) took the loss, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit in two innings of relief.

GAME TWO: WILMINGTON 9, MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 2

• Six consecutive batters reached in a six-run third inning as Wilmington broke open a scoreless game.
• Mount St. Joseph got two runs back in the fourth, but the Fightin' Quakers retaliated with three runs in the fifth. Senior Sydney Kelly (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) energized the inning with a pinch-hit RBI double, and come around to score on a double by Trautman.
• Junior Beth Persicano, 2-4, (Knoxville, TN/Cincinnati (OH) Turpin) earned the victory, hurling 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. She allowed two hits with one strikeout.
• Hooper finished 2-for-3 with a triple, run scored and a season-high three RBI.
• Sophomore Madi Wellendorf (Akron, OH/Firestone) recorded her first multi-hit game of her career, going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Barber and Trautman also had two hits in the game. It marked the fourth time in five games Barber finished with multiple hits.
