@DubC_MensLax falls to Hanover

HANOVER, IN - The Wilmington College Fightin' Quakers Men's Lacrosse got off to a slow start Wednesday in falling to Hanover 15-10 in non-conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Hanover came out strong in the first period totaling 18 shots and scoring on six goals.  Out of those six goals Hanover's top offensive threat on the night, Al Alessia, scored three of his four total goals. Wilmington's lone goal scorer in the first period was Connor Judge (Dublin, OH/Dublin Scioto), assisted by Jorden Grossen (Wooster, OH/Wooster).
  • In the second period Hanover again, was able to score six more goals adding to the lead at halftime by a score of 12-4.  
  • Wilmington was able to score three goals in the second period with two of them coming from senior Reid Delaney (Wooster, OH/Wooster).
  • The Fightin' Quakers came out of halftime in the third and fourth periods outshooting Hanover 25-21 and outscoring Hanover 6-3.  Unfortunately, the late push in the second half came up short leading to the first loss of the season for Wilmington.
  • The top performers of the evening for Wilmington were Delaney with three goals and one assist on seven shots, senior Chris Hein (McKinney, TX/McKinney) totaling two goals and one assist on three shots, and freshman Andrew Miller(Plain City, OH/Jonathan Alder) adding one goal and two assists on the evening.

  • "I'm very proud of the progress we have made so far this season," said Bryan Habick. "The score did not represent the entire game and how well we played in the second half.  The guys responded to the challenged at halftime and they played very hard until the last minute of the game."

Wilmington (2-1) returns to action 2 p.m. Saturday hosting Trine (1-1) in non-conference action.
