Football Hosts Marietta on Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College football team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a home contest against Marietta College on Saturday. Kickoff from Williams Stadium is slated for 3 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Marietta. The Fightin' Quakers are in search of their first victory after falling to No. 4 the University of Mount Union 63-0 on Saturday. The Pioneers are 2-3 on the season, but also looking to rebound after a pair of losses – 34-33 at Ohio Northern University and 44-21 at home against Heidelberg University.

The Coaches: Bryan Moore, a 1999 graduate of Hiram College, begins his fifth season leading Wilmington's football program. Moore began instilling his vision on the program having brought in three large freshman classes, and that has paid off on the field with multiple victories each of the last two seasons. Previously, Moore spent time at both Bluffton University and Heidelberg. Andy Waddle, a 2003 Wittenberg University alumnus, is in his ninth season as Marietta's head football coach. The Pioneers have achieved four straight winning seasons under his guidance.

The Offenses: Derek Larimer quarterbacks the Wilmington offense and averages over 211 yards per game through the air. His two favorite targets through half the season have been Itika Wynn Jr. and Ace Taylor, both of whom have hauled in double-digit receptions. Both Ben Hobbs and Dallas Rawlings have carries at least 35 times for over 125 yards. Connor Vierstra leads the Pioneer offense with over 900 yards passing to go along with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Both Bryce Agnew and Maguire Morris have over 20 receptions while Agnew averages nearly 140 yards rushing per contest.

The Defenses: A trio of Quakers – Jarod Lee, Tre'Quez Parks and Xzerious Stinnett – have over 20 tackles for Wilmington's defense. Lee, who had a big sack on a third down play against Mount Union last week, has two sacks while Elijah Carson has two interceptions, both of which came against Ohio Northern University. A trio of Pioneers – Drake Neuberger, Vic Giobengo and Kyler Folkert – have over 30 tackles.
