Cheerleading competes in NCA Camp

LOUISVILLE - The Wilmington College cheerleading team recently attended the National Cheerleading Association (NCA) cheerleading camp at the University of Louisville, and walked away with some hardware.

Wilmington, according to head coach Chip Dillon, competed against some Division I institutions, and earned second place along with a bronze partially paid bid to the national event in April. The event will be held in Daytona Beach, FL and will be aired nationally on the CBS Sports Network.

This was the first time the cheerleading proram attended a NCA camp. There were approximately 500 athletes in attendance representing 20 colleges and universities with the WC cheer team fielding the smallest roster.

They were evaluated each day of camp and received superior ratings each day.

The Wilmington cheerleaders are senior Amanda Brock, junior Debbie Coomer, junior Samantha Rowe, junior Brandin Williams-Johnson, junior Hayden Lowe, junior Mackenzie Stevens, sophomore Brooke Weeks, sophomore Paige Weeks, freshman Kaitlyn Kalifoot and freshman Jessica Alexander.
