WILMINGTON, Ohio – Throughout the months of July and August, the Wilmington College Office of Athletic Communications, through the lens of Director Mitch Blankespoor, is going to revisit some of its favorite memories of each sport throughout the 2019-20 academic year. Today's entry will be memories for the wrestling season.
WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College wrestling team returns to teh mat this Saturday, Feb. 8, in Berea, Ohio at the John Summa Invitational. The Fightin' Quakers will not be competing as a team, rather, they will be participating as individuals due to a smaller roster size.
ADA, Ohio – Seth Jermer finished fifth place in the 285-pound weight class to highlight the Wilmington College wrestling team's performance at the Ohio Northern Invitational at King Horn Sports Center on Saturday.
The Wilmington College wrestling team heads to OAC rival Baldwin Wallace in Berea, Ohio, this weekend starting at 10 a.m., for the Baldwin Wallace Invitational.
Wilmington will be sending nine individuals to wrestle in nine different weight classes - Zack Gutknecht (125-pound), Adrian Salamone (141-pound), Chris Beltre (149-pound), Clayton Schirmer (157-pound), Patrick Kelley (165-pound), Jaymon Flaugher (165-pond), Bruno Pattison (197-pound) and Seth Jermer (285-pound). Schirmer is coming off of a victory against Heidelberg University on Wednesday.
Rupert, who added vice president for athletic administration to his title in 2007, will also remain in that role this semester as he transitions into becoming a full-time faculty member with the sport management program, which he started in 1998.
The Wilmington College wrestling program is hosting a clinic, scheduled for Oct. 12, for junior high and high school age wrestlers who are looking to learn new techniques as well as fine-tune their skills before the season begins.
