Career game by Delaney leads to win

STEUBENVILLE – The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team never trailed in moving back to .500 with the 15-8 non-conference victory over Franciscan Saturday at Memorial Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Wilmington dished out a season-high nine assists on a season-high 15 goals in the victory.
  • The Fightin' Quakers shot a season-high 31.3 percent in the win. The previous high was 23.4 percent in the loss to Hanover.
  • Wilmington was proficient with its shots, putting a season-high 62.5 percent (30-of-48) of its shots on goal.
  • WC took advantage of its man-up chances, converting 5-of-7 and held the Barons to just 1-of-8 on their power-play chances.
  • Junior Reid Delaney (Wooster, OH/Wooster) had a career game for the Fightin' Quakers. The attackman tallied a career-high five goals with a season-high three assists. He was one of three players with three assists.
  • Senior Alexander Gossard (Galloway, OH/Hilliard Bradley) also had three assists with three goals, while junior Chris Hein (McKinney, TX/McKinney) dished out three assists.
  • Senior Jalen Jackson (Hilliard, OH/Bradley) and junior Jhordan Lang (Sunbury, OH/Big Walnut) each scored twice.
  • Sophomore Jake Ladendorf (Crown Point, IN/Crown Point) recorded 11 saves on 19 shots.

Wilmington (3-3) travels to LaRoche 4 p.m. Wednesday for its final non-conference game of the year.
