Steffen earns All-OAC honors

WESTERVILLE – Junior Tricia Steffen earned her first All-Ohio Athletic Conference award Saturday, placing 15th in the 2013 OAC Cross Country Championships at Otterbein University.

Steffen (Baltimore, OH/Liberty Union) was a second team honoree with her 15th place finish with the time 24:00.5.

Wilmington placed tenth with 252 points as John Carroll won the meet with 34 points. The Blue Streaks were followed by Mount Union (37), Otterbein (86), Heidelberg (106), Ohio Northern (164), Baldwin Wallace (184), Muskingum (198), Marietta (236) and Capital (240).

"I am really proud of our women's team," said head coach Ron Combs. "It took a lot of heart just to get a team to the start line this year with everything that group has been through. I thought Tricia made a big step today. I thought Sidney DuBois ran a great race for a freshman."

DuBois (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester) was the second Wilmington runner to finish, placing 54th with the time of 26:15.2, while sophomore Mary Krebs (Kettering, OH/Alter) finished 56th in 26:40.8.

Rounding out the Wilmington scoring were junior Sarah Murphy (West Liberty, OH/West Liberty) (61st, 28:00.1) and freshman Stephanie Fetters (West Milton, OH/Milton Union) (66th, 31:00.7).

Wilmington will compete in the Great Lakes Regional race on November 16.
