Steffen places 23rd at Cedarville

CEDARVILLE – Junior Tricia Steffen was the top Wilmington placer at the Cedarville Friendship Invitational Saturday as the women's team finished ninth of 11 teams.

Steffen was 23rd overall with the time of 24:23.77, while freshman Sidney DuBois was the next Quaker runner – finishing 70th with a time of 26:58.85.

"I thought on the girls side we were excited to how we matched up with Capital," said head coach Ron Combs. "It was our first 6K of the season, and I thought we struggled a little with the distance."

Combs added DuBois "ran a good race".

Rounding out the WC scoring were sophomore Mary Krebs (73rd, 27:01.67), sophomore Sarah Murphy (90th, 28:25.92) and freshman Stephanie Fetters (100th, 30:22.56).

Wilmington takes a week off before returning to Cedarville to compete in the All-Ohio race.
