Volleyball falls to 0-3 on the season

DELAWARE, OH – The Wilmington volleyball team won its first set of the day before dropping six straight in losing to Grove City and Earlham at Ohio Wesleyan's Battin' Bishop Invitational.


"We started off really strong," said head coach Beth Floyd. "We have to continue to work to get better and work on our conditioning because we ran out of gas. But, with every game, every set, they are improving their communication and getting used to playing with one another."

The Fightin' Quakers beat Grove City in the first set, 25-20, and then fell 25-12, 28-18 and 25-22. Junior Ashley Miller (Arcanum, OH/Franklin Monroe) led the way with nine kills, while sophomore Tabby Biegler (Columbus, OH/Briggs) and junior Natalie Sparks (West Jefferson, OH/West Jefferson) added seven kills each.

Sophomore Ariana Neff (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast ) finished with a team-high 26 assists, while freshman Meghan Bruns (Ft. Loramie, OH/Ft. Loramie) recorded a team-high 17 digs.

In the battle of Quakers, Wilmington came up short - falling to Earlham, 25-19, 25-22, 25-13.

Sparks led WC with seven kills, while Biegler recorded six kills. Neff continued to distribute well with 19 assists. Bruns added 12 digs.

Wilmington (0-3) hosts Earlham 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hermann Court in non-conference action.
