Steffen wins two events for WC

WESTERVILLE – Junior Tricia Steffen won two events Saturday as the Wilmington College women's track team finished fifth in the Ohio Athletic Conference South meet, held at Otterbein College.

"Tricia Steffen had another big meet; winning two events in good times running by herself," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "Tricia has worked really hard and it is beginning to pay off for her. For the women's team, it's tough because we just don't have the numbers to compete in a meet like this."

Steffen (Baltimore, OH/Liberty Union) earned victories in the mile (5:26.06) and the 3000 (10.59.52).

Wilmington went 1-2 in the high jump as sophomore Jadie Riewoldt (Morrow, OH/Little Miami) won the event with a jump of 1.52 meters. Sophomore Kelsie Redway (Toledo, OH/Whitmer) was second (1.47 meters).

The other win for the women's team came from the 4x200 team of junior Sarah Murphy (West Liberty, OH/West Liberty-Salem), sophomore Megan Warren (Grove City, OH/Grove City), along with freshmen Angela Dorsett (Pittsburgh, PA/West Mifflin) and Hannah Rolf (Springfield, OH/Northeastern). The quintet covered the distance in 1:56.26.

Sophomore Marissa Bolen (Gibsonburg, OH/Gibsonburg) missed a school record in the shot put by less than six inches with a throw of 11.92 meters. Dorsett added a third place finish in the triple jump (9.53 meters).

Wilmington returns to action on February 15 for the All-Ohio meet at Otterbein.
