Women's swimming finishes sixth in OAC

AKRON – The Wilmington College women's swimming team placed sixth of seven teams in the three-day Ohio Athletic Conference championship.

"We had an incredible meet with huge drops across the board," said Wilmington head coach Trip Breen. "We were neck and neck with BW all weekend long, and their points in diving helped give them the edge."

Senior Caroline Kruczynski (Grove City, OH/Central Crossing) capped her career by competing in back-to-back "A" Finals this weekend. It was the first time in her four-year career that she was able to compete in the championship finals. She finished seventh in the 200 backstroke (2:13.40) Saturday. Four other swimmers – Jenny Geers (Pickerington, OH/North), Elyse Spraul (Cincinnati, OH/Mount Notre Dame), Nicholle Fiore (Dayton, OH/Northridge) and Chelsea Simpson (Stow, OH/Stow) – all scored in the event.

Junior Lydia Wolcott (Miamisburg, OH/Bishop Fenwick) placed 10th in the 200-yard butterfly (2:33.80), and junior Rachel Drake (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield) was 11th in the 200 breaststroke (2:37.14). Senior Addie Roberts (Franklin, OH/Franklin) was 14th in the mile (19:17.46).

The quartet of Kruczynski, Geers, junior Rachel Routzong (Urbana, OH/Urbana) and freshman Samantha Glish (Louisville, KY/Ballard) placed fifth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:50.41).
