WSWIM falls to Transy, Witt

LEXINGTON, KY – The Wilmington College women's swim team fell to Transylvania in Ohio Athletic Conference action and Wittenberg in non-conference action Saturday.

"We had to deal with some injuries and illness this week, and didn't bring our entire team," said Wilmington head coach Trip Breen. "It was the first time we ran a full NCAA-style format. We had great energy throughout. As a coaching staff, we were concerned that we would lose some energy, but we were able to maintain it all meet."

Senior Caroline Kruczynski (Grove City, OH/Central Crossing) and junior Lydia Wolcott (Miamisburg, OH/Bishop Fenwick) turned in the best WC performances.

"Caroline had the best swim of the season in the 200 back," said Breen.

Kruczynski finished second in the 200 backstroke (2:18.64) and Wolcott was second in the 200 Individual Medley (2:33.65).

Breen pointed out the freshman Sarah Holtsclaw (Hamilton, OH/St. Clairesville) swam "lifetime" bests in her two events, 50 freestyle (30.57) and the 100 butterfly (1:23.51)
