With its scoring depth on full display, the Wilmington College women's soccer team dispatched Earlham, 6-0, Wednesday in non-conference action at Charlie Gilhart Field.

The Quakers won their fourth straight match in dominating fashion, outshooting Earlham 23-2 and by getting scoring from defenders, midfielders and forwards.

"We had a lot of different people score goals for us," said head coach Steve Spirk. "When you can do that it makes you a very dangerous team."

Camille Gentile got the scoring going early with a penalty kick in the sixth minute.  A foul on Rachelle Bowen in the box led to the scoring opportunity. She added her second goal of the game and the season, giving Wilmington a 3-0 lead in the 30th minute. The goal was set up by a corner kick that was punched out to the top of the box, and right to the foot of Gentile.

Bowen's second goal of the season was sandwiched by the two Gentile goals.

Caroline Guindon scored in the 41st minute, and Lauren Lewis found the back of the net in the 43rd minute as the Quakers took a 5-0 lead into the half.

"We were very efficient in finishing in the first half, but we didn't pass the ball well," said Spirk. "I thought the score allowed us to play better in the second half."

Shutting out Earlham was a feat in itself for Wilmington as they visiting Quakers averaged two goals in their three previous losses.

"They are a very dangerous team and they had players we felt if we let them loose, they could score," said Spirk. "We didn't take them lightly."

Jenni Marck scored her third goal of the season in the 80th minute to cap the scoring.

Between the pipes, Taylor Franklin recorded her second shutout of the season, playing all 90 minutes without facing a single shot.

Wilmington (4-1-1) stays home 7 p.m. Saturday, hosting Franklin at Charlie Gilhart Field.
