WLAX drops a pair in North Carolina

The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team dropped a pair of games to wrap up their spring break trip to North Carolina. The Fightin' Quakers fell to Greensboro, 24-0, Thursday and to Chowan, 20-2, Friday.

GREENBORO 24, WILMINGTON 0

The Pride scored 13 goals in the first half, and 11 more in the second half. Kirstin Norris led Greensboro with nine goals, while 11 different players found the back of the net.

Junior Rachel Routzong (Urbana, OH/Urbana) and junior Stephanie Belz (Gahanna, OH/Lincoln) each registered a shot for WC.

Junior Katie Bennett (Newport, OH/Frontier) allowed nine goals with four saves, while freshman Megan Wieloch (Canton, MI/Plymouth) surrendered 15 goals with five saves.

CHOWAN 20, WILMINGTON 2

The Hawks scored 18 unanswered goals to record the victory. Mackenzie Reed led Chowan with 10 goals and three asissts.

After the Hawks tallied the first two goals of the game, Wilmington answered as Loryn Bryson (Carlisle, OH/Carlisle) and Ashley Fox (Monroe, OH/Lemon Monroe) found the net within three seconds of each other to pull WC even.

Bennett registered 11 saves, while allowing 14 goals, and Wieloch made five saves in allowing six goals.

Wilmington (1-3) travels to Hanover 2 p.m. Sunday.
