Men's Track third at OAC South

MARIETTA – The Wilmington College men's track and field team won seven events Saturday and finished third in the five-team Ohio Athletic Conference South Split meet.

"I thought our men's team could be top two, so I'm a little disappointed with third," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "I am happy with some unsung guys on our team scoring well, like Zak Kruer winning the vault, Dominic King getting second in the 5K and Pierce Burnam helping win the 4x400. We need some guys like that to step up for us as we approach the championship meets."

Senior Jake Syndor (Owensville, OH/Clermont Northeastern) was a part of three event victories, winning the 400 meter dash (50.67). The quartet of Sydnor, senior Derek Kilgo (Charlotte, NC/North Royalton), junior Jeremy Duncan (Cincinnati, OH/Archbishop Moeller) and freshmanTravis Scheadler (Milford, OH/Milford) won the 200 meter relay (1:32.57), while Sydnor and Kilgo teamed with senior Jake Simpkins (Germantown, OH/Valley View) and Pierce Burnam(New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) to win the 400 meter relay (3:31.04).

Sydnor added a second place finish in the 200 meter dash (23.02). The event was won Duncan with the time of 22.75. Kilgo added a victory in the 55 meter dash (6.55) and freshman Tahj Sho-Johnson (Princeton, WVa./Princeton) scored with a sixth place finish in the 55 (6.70).

Simpkins was victorious in the mile (4:57.9) and was second in the 800 (1:57.26). Senior Tyler Ahle (Bellefontaine, OH/Benjamin Logan) was fourth in the 800 (2:06.62). Senior Scott Blubaugh (Circleville, OH/Logan Elm) was second in the 1000 meter run (2:44.62).

Freshman Griffin Stith (Batavia, OH/Batavia) was second in the 3000 (9:32.38) and Dominic King (Bettsville, OH/Bettsville) was third in the event (9:46.29). He added a second place finish in the 5000 meter run (16:26.16).

Sophomore Zak Kruer (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) won the pole vault (4.42 meters).

Wilmington returns to full-team competition February 14 at the All-Ohio meet, hosted by Otterbein.
