Duncan sets 200 record, WC finishes sixth

ALLIANCE – The Wilmington College men's track and field team had six All-Ohio Athletic Conference winners as they finished sixth of 10 teams at the 2014 OAC Indoor Championships.

"I was really pleased with the effort from both teams all weekend. I thought the kids preserved all season long. We are looking forward to outdoor and continuing to move up in the conference outdoors."

Sophomore Jeremy Duncan (Cincinnati, OH/Archbishop Moeller) set another school record in the 200 meters, but was edge out by .02 seconds. He finished second with the time of 22.22. He also earned all-league honors in the 4x200 relay, joining Jake Sydnor (Owensville, OH/Clermont Northeastern), Derek Kilgo (Charlotte, NC/Royalton) and Chase Manica (Shelbyville, KY/Shelby County) to place third in the 4x200 relay (1:30.46). The time was fourth on WC's all-time list.

Sydnor also added All-OAC in a singles event, placing third in the 400 – going under 50 seconds for the first time indoor (49.89).

Distance runner Alek Erwin (Springfield, OH/Northeastern) and Jake Simpkins (Germantown, OH/Valley View) picked up All-OAC honors in the distance medley relay and in individual events. They were joined by Ethan Rudd (Felicity, OH/Felicity Franklin) and Brad Kline (Circleville, OH/Circleville) to finish third in the DMR with the second best time in school history (10:28.13).

Individually, Simpkins was second in the 800 (1:57.8) and Erwin was third in the mile (4:27.54).
