John Carroll Men Win 6-of-8 Events on Day Two of OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio - The John Carroll University (JCU) men's swimming & diving team won 6-of-8 events that competed on day two of the 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Swimming & Diving Championships hosted at the Ocasek Natatorium on Friday.

The Blue Streaks won both relays including setting an OAC record in the 200-yard medley relay as the team of Forrest Campbell, Mason Beck, Jackson Cooper and Matthew Ramsey swam a time of 1:30.78. JCU's other relay squad took home the OAC title in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 6:56.34. Individually, Cooper also set an OAC record by winning the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.92 seconds.

The University of Mount Union's Cole Ellsworth won the conference championship in the 200-yard freestyle with a mark of 1:42.03. Ohio Northern University's Nolan Huey was the other non-JCU individual to win an event, claiming the 400-yard IM with a mark of 4:03.06.

The men's three-meter diving finals competed on Friday with JCU's Ryan McClelland (474.05) and Jack Lausin (364.70) finished first and second in the event respectively.

Team scores after two days are as follows - John Carroll 620, Ohio Northern 491.5, Mount Union 454.4, Baldwin Wallace 199, Wilmington 199.

The final day of competition begins with prelims at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
