Maki, Delaney lead @WCMensLax in loss

ALLIANCE – Freshman Devon Maki and sophomore Reid Delaney combined for nine of Wilmington's 10 goals, but the men's lacrosse team fell to Mount Union, 19-10, at Mount Union Stadium in Ohio Athletic Conference action Saturday.

The Purple Raiders took control of the game with seven straight goals in end the half, last five of the first period and two in the second, to snap a 2-2 tie.

Maki (Pickerington, OH/Central) opened the scoring less than 30 seconds into the game, and then scored with 9:21 left to tie the game at two. By the time Wilmington scored again, a goal by junior Evan Osborne (Middletown, OH/Lebanon) with 11 minutes remaining in the third period, the Fightin' Quakers trailed 10-3.

Delaney capped the WC third-period scoring with a pair of goals, and Wilmington outscored UMU, 5-3, in the final period.

Maki tallied a team-high five goals, and Delaney tied a personal season-best with four goals.

Sophomore Paul Koerbel (Maineville, OH/Kings) finished with five saves in 45 minutes of action. Freshman Jake Ladendorf (Crown Point, IN/Crown Point) added two saves in 15 minutes.
