MEN'S PREVIEW: Marietta

There is no mistaking the feelings around the Wilmington College men's basketball team as they kick off the second portion of Ohio Athletic Conference action, hosting Marietta 3 p.m. Saturday. The Pioneers handed WC its worst loss of the season, and Wilmington is out to prove its a better team that hit the court in December.

"We absolutely hurt ourselves by taking poor shots, by turning the ball over, by taking quick shots and playing to the tempo they want to play at," said Wilmington head coach K.C. Hunt. "We have to do a better job playing our game of basketball; staying within ourselves and do what we do as a team. We want to come out, play a great game and enacting a little bit of revenge would be appropriate. But ultimately, they are a really good basketball team, and we have to play better than the first time around."

Marietta hit the Fightin' Quakers up for a 98 points, the most WC has allowed all season long. RaNeal Ewing led MC with 26 points, including 10-of-13 from the free throw line. As a team, the Pioneers marched to the line 35 ties – making 80 percent.

Marietta leads the OAC in free throw percentage, making 78.2 of their attempts. They have ventured to the charity stripe 377 times, which is third in the league. Ewing leads the team with 61 trips, and is third in the league at 86.9 percent. Teammate Eddy Grenert is second in the OAC, making 92.3 percent from the line.

Junior Andy Dollman leads the Pioneers in scoring with 12.9 points, while Ewing comes off the bench for 12.6 points per game. Davis leads the team with 5.9 rebounds, while junior Garrett Stephenson added 5.1 boards per game.

"They have a bunch of good individual players, and they set a lot of ball screens," said Hunt. "So you are going to see less assists when you set that many ball screens for players that can get their own shots. This is a quality basketball team, and we are going to have to play a good basketball game."
