For the second time in back-to-back weeks, the Wilmington men's basketball team will be playing a home game less than 48 hours after leaving the court with a victory. The last time resulted in a 64-57 loss to Marietta.  

Despite not getting the result they wanted or expected, don't look for the Wilmington coaching staff to adjust their approach. Wilmington head coach K.C. Hunt feels that the Marietta defeat was a function of WC not playing with "energy and effort."

Playing in the two early season tournaments also prepared Wilmington to game plan for an opponent in limited time. The Fightin' Quakers were 1-1 in back-to-back games this year.

Baldwin-Wallace comes into Saturday's game on a three-game losing streak and a 1-2 record away from home. Wilmington has won the last four meetings, including all three last season. Although the Fightin' Quakers were ultimately successful in the games with the Yellow Jackets, all three games were tough, rugged battles.

Hunt also acknowledges last year's results have no bearing on the 2012-13 season.

"We are different team and they are different," he said. "We have to guard and rebound, especially against a strong rebounding team like Baldwin-Wallace. We have to limited them to one shot, and make it a contested shot."

Hitting the glass hasn't necessarily been a recipe for success for Wilmington. They have been outrebounded in five of their eight games this season, and won three of them. The Yellow Jackets won the rebounding battle in two of the three last seasons, but WC came out victorious in both.

Three BW players - Jaron Crowe, Kevin Krakowiak and Kyle Payne - are averaging 11.5 points per game in OAC action. Despite averaging 7.1 rebounds on the season, Payne has been held to nearly three boards under his season average in conference action, pulling down just 4.5. As a team, the Yellow Jackets are losing the battle on the boards by an average of four rebounds per contest.

Junior Malcolm Heard II (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) is coming off his best game of the season with a season-high 22 points, six rebounds and a career-high four rebounds. His eight steals tied Wilmington's single-game mark. It was the 36th time, sixth this season, which Heard tallied more than double figures.

Senior Brandon Candella (West Chester, OH/Lakota West) has been a steady force for the Quakers offensively, reaching double figures in all eight games. He is leading the team in scoring with 15.1 points per game.
