Kevin Griffin enters his first season with the Wilmington College football team in 2024.

Griffin joins Kevin Burke's staff from NAIA institution Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan. As a Crusader, Griffin was the Associate Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach for the 2023 season. Griffin's duties included managing graduate assistant and student coaches, calling defensive plays on gameday, and helping game plan during the week, among other tasks. Off the field, Griffin oversaw the team's grade checks, progress reports, and study halls.

Before Madonna, Griffin was in Oklahoma at NAIA Langston University as the Defensive Coordinator/Recruiting Coordinator/Linebackers Coach/Pro Liaison. In 2018, 2019, and 2021, Griffin helped the Lions defense to several Top-10 national rankings in such categories as rushing defense, total defense, opponent's 3rd down conversion, and more. 2018 saw the Lions rank sixth in Opponent 3rd Down Conversion and eighth in Rushing Defense. In 2019, Langston was the number one team in the NAIA in Rushing Defense, Yards Per Carry Allowed and Opponent 3rd Down Conversion. During that same season, they were second in Opponents 1st Downs. The 2021 campaign saw the Lions ranked number five in Opponent 3rd down conversion, sixth in Total Defense, and seventh in Opponents First Downs. 

Griffin has been coaching football since 2006 and has been coaching collegiately since 2008.

Kevin can coach any of the three levels on defense and will be a great mentor to our defensive line." Burke continued, "Adding someone with his experience to our defensive staff was huge. He has a dynamic personality and cares deeply about building relationships with the players he recruits and coaches."
