BEREA – The Wilmington College baseball team was swept Saturday in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader, losing to Baldwin Wallace, 25-3 and 16-0, at Heritage Field.

Sophomore Alec Hutzelman (Centerville, OH/Centerville) got the scoring underway with a leadoff home run for his first career longball. He finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

However, the Yellow Jackets scored in seven of their eight at-bats, including seven in the fifth and sixth in the sixth.

Sophomore Corey Walker (Hillsboro, OH/Hillsboro) had a career-high three-hit performance, going 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Sophomore Cole Voltz (Mt. Sterling, OH/Pleasant Plain) had his first rough outing of the season, allowing five earned runs on 11 hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Wilmington managed four hits – one each by senior Brandon Arehart (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington), junior Roenick Whitney (Goshen, OH/Goshen), sophomore Tyler Schrock (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville) and sophomore Blake Schmidt (Cincinnati, OH/Archbishop McNicholas).

Walker allowed nine runs (five earned) on 10 hits in five innings to take the loss.

Wilmington (2-20 overall, 1-9 OAC) returns to the diamond with an OAC doubleheader Tuesday with Otterbein at Tewksbury-Delaney Field.
