Baseball overwhelmed by DI Raiders

FAIRBORN, OH – The Wilmington College baseball team yielded at least one run in all eight innings as they fell to Division I Wright State University Tuesday, 25-0, at Nischwitz Stadium in non-conference action.

"When you go play a DI team, they are really good," said head coach Tony Haley. "But we had good effort, and we are not going to see that type of pitching. All I would say is that we kept fighting for the whole nine innings. They got a taste of OAC type competition. Our young guys weren't real nervous. Overall, I was pleased with the effort they gave us."

Senior Hunter Justus (Circleville, OH/Logan Elm) recorded two of Wilmington's three hits and juniorBrandon Arehart (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) registered the other. The Fightin' Quakers were able to get the leadoff runner on base in five of the nine innings, and posed their best threat in the fourth.

Arehart led the inning off with a single and moved to third on back-to-back singles, however, a lineout to right ended the threat.

Senior Jake Vinkovich (Circleville, OH/Circleville) fell to 0-2 on the season, allowing nine runs (seven earned) in three innings.

Wilmington (3-6) returns to action 4:15 p.m. Friday when the Quakers travel to face the Bluffton Beavers.
