Big fourth dooms Quakers

FT. MYERS – Wilmington committed four errors in the fourth inning and Kenyon converted those miscues into 10 runs as the Fightin' Quakers fell to Kenyon, 14-2, Tuesday at Terry Park.

Wilmington scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead. Junior Brandon Arehart (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) reached on a one-out error and moved to second as senior Hunter Justus(Circleville, OH/Logan Elm) walked. Cameron Schwalbach (Circleville, OH/Circleville) had WC's first hit, a blooper into right field.

Arehart, who held to make sure the ball fell, scored as Justus was tagged out at second after over running the base. Schwalbach scored as freshman Alec Hutzelman(Centerville, OH/Centerville) singled to right.

The Lords knotted the game with a single run in the third and blew the game open in the fourth.

Freshman pitcher Tyler Schrock (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville) took the loss, allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits with two strikeouts and three walks. He was on the mound to start the fourth when the inning began to unravel starting with back-to-back errors to start the inning. Freshman Max Ramsey (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville) relieved Schrock, but only recorded one out while allowing four runs on three hits.

Freshman Billy Foster (Xenia, OH/Xenia) got Wilmington out of the inning, and finished by allowing three unearned runs on five hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Six different Quakers – Clay Cleaver (Pleasant Plain, OH/Little Miami), Mike Arahood (South Vienna, OH/Northeastern),Alex Finney (Crestline, OH/Buckeye Central), Arehart, Schalbach and Hutzelman – recorded hits for Wilmington.
