WC ends spring trip on skid

FT. MYERS, FL – The Wilmington College baseball team closed the spring break trip by dropping three straight games. After falling to Thiel, 9-3, on Thursday, the Quakers were swept by Alvernia in a doubleheader, 4-0 and 11-1.

Senior Hunter Justus (Circleville, OH/Logan Elm) had the best performance on the mound, allowing just three earned runs over seven innings in the 4-0 loss to the Crusaders. Sophomore Troy Wagner (Bright, IN/East Central) yielded 10 runs, only four earned, in four innings of work, while senior Jake Vinkovich (Circleville, OH/Circleville) allowed three earned runs over 6-0 innings in the 9-3 loss to Thiel.

Junior Brandon Arehart (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) and Justus both hit .273 (3-of-11). Arehart added a double, run scored and RBI. Freshman Clay Cleaver(Pleasant Plain, OH/Little Miami) and freshman Corey Walker (Hillsboro, OH/Hillsboro) added RBI for Wilmington.

Wilmington (3-5) travels to Division I Wright State Tuesday for a non-conference game.
