Women's Swimming Posts Eight Top-Five Finishes on Day one of OWU Invitational

DELAWARE, Ohio – Macki Leon highlighted the Wilmington College women's swimming team's performance on day one of the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational by winning the 200-yard freestyle on Saturday.

Leon's win was one of eight events that the Fightin' Quakers posted top-five finishes in. As a team, Wilmington sits in fourth place with 313 points. Host Ohio Wesleyan University leads the field after day one with 601 points.

In the 200-yard freestyle race, Leon's time of 2:01.45 beat Jaime Boulier of Davis & Elkins College by less than a quarter of a second, but bested the rest of the field by nearly three seconds. Along with a fifth-place finish (2:17.66) in the 200-yard backstroke, Leon also partook in all three relay squads that placed for the Quakers. The junior teamed up with Fynn Roberts, Hannah Davis and Margaret Hover to take fourth in both the 200-yard medley relay (1:58.41) and the 800-yard freestyle relay (8:33.25)

In the other relay on the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay, Hover, Davis, Leon and Anna Endsley finished third with a mark of 3:53.36.

Roberts posted two top-five finishes on Saturday, taking fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.17) and fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:38.49). Hover finished the 100-yard freestyle in 56.94 seconds, placing her third.

Day two of the invitational gets underway at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
