The Wilmington College women's swimming team lost a pair of duals Saturday, falling to Wittenberg, 195-57, and to Transylvania, 150-98, in the Wilmington Natatorium.

"They continue to fight and learn," said Wilmington head coach Trip Breen. "Samantha Glish was just out touched in the 50, and is really turning into a great sprinter."

Glish (Louisville, KY/Ballard) was third in the 50 freestyle (29.34), and junior Anna Belokur (Towanda, PA/Towanda) was third in the 100 freestyle (1:07.84). Breen notes that Belokur has been "improving week by week."

Senior Lydia Wolcott (Miamisburg, OH/Bishop Fenwick) and freshman Rachel O'Donnell (Seven Hills, OH/Normandy) turned in quality swims in the 800 freestyle, finishing the event in 11:03.71 and 11:18.43, respectively.

"Rachel O'Donnell is getting better every week and it's incredible watching her confidence grow," said Breen.

Wolcott returned to the pool and battled in the 200 individual medley (2:52.08). Breen notes she is improving on her breaststroke.

Two freshmen specialists – Susan Householder and Ellyse Herr (Edison, OH/Mt. Gilead) – are improving in the 200 breaststroke and 200 backstroke, respectively. Neither event is swam in high school meets.

The 200 freestyle medley relay team of Rachel Routzong (Urbana, OH/Urbana), Colleen Rueppel (Middlebury, VT/Manheim (PA)), Elyse Spraul (Cincinnati, OH/Mount Notre Dame) and Glish capped the beat on a high note, beating Transylvania (2:03.55).

Wilmington travels to Hiram 1 p.m. Saturday for another non-conference dual meet.
