Women's Soccer Travels to Heidelberg to Begin OAC Play

WILMINGTON, Ohio  -The Wilmington College women's soccer team will travel to Heidelberg University on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest to begin Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) competition.

The Teams: Wilmington and Heidelberg,The Fightin' Quakers are 5-2-1 after defeating Defiance 3-0 last Saturday. The Student Princes are 4-4-1 after a 3-0 loss to Hirem on Saturday.

The Coaches: Steve Spirk enters his 28th season as Wilmington's head women's soccer coach. Spirk, a 1982 alumnus, has led the Quakers to six NCAA Division III Tournaments, eight conference championships and over 300 victories during his tenure. A member of the Wilmington Athletics Hall of Fame, Spirk was a four-time All-American and holds several of the College's men's soccer records. Nick Spell is in his 14th season as head women's soccer coach at Heidelberg, he has coached 13 all OAC players and 32 academic all OAC players. 

The Players: Freshman Maddie Scott leads the Quakers in goals with five. Taylor Huffman leads Wilmington in the assist category with three. Lauren Galloway has started every game for the Quakers and has made 47 saves and only allowed two goals. Erica Campbell leads the Student Princes in goals and assists with six of each. Meredeth Burce has started every game for Heidelberg, recording 42 saves and 19 goals allowed. 

Series History: Wilmington is 13-6-4 against Hedelberg since 1994, he Quakers won the last matchup 1-0 at Williams Stadium.
