Five Quakers Score as Men's Lacrosse Falls to the Purple Raiders

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team scored five goals from five different players, but could not find take advantage of enough opportunities to defeat the University of Mount Union. Ultimately, the Quakers would fall 24-5.

The Quakers posted a quality first quarter as statistically they were even on successful clear attempts and won five more ground balls than the Purple Raiders. Mount Union outshot the Quakers 9-5 in the first quarter, and was able to convert three goals. Austin Bondurant scored in the final two minutes breaking the shutout and taking the Quakers to the quarter break down 3-1.

The second and third frames were where Mount Union gained its separation. They outscored Wilmington 19-1 in that 30 minute span. Eli Ciotti added five goals to his season tally during the run. Garrett Murrell scored the lone Quaker goal, an unassisted take in the second quarter.

Wilmington showed great mental toughness and put together a really successful fourth quarter. The Quakers had fewer turnovers, more faceoff wins while doubling Mount Union in ground balls won. Austin Pagett scored in the fourth on an assist by Austin Bondurant. Jacob Snyder scored the final Wilmington goal making the final score 25-5 in favor of Mount Union. 

Up next, Wilmington travels to Muskingum to face the Muskies Wednesday at 7 p.m.
