Wilmington, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team trailed for only 16 seconds of tonight's contest as the Quakers defeated Spalding University by a final score of 15-5 at Williams Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Jacob Snyder scored 10 goals in his Wilmington debut, tying the program record for goals in a single game.

The first quarter got off to an ominous start when the Golden Eagle's leading goal scorer Mason Moore found the back of the net to give Spalding a 1-0 lead. Garrett Murrell quickly put a stop to any thoughts of a Spalding upset as he scored an unassisted goal 16 seconds later. A flurry of three goals by Austin Pagett, Jacob Snyder and Justen Shaw in the final three minutes gave Wilmington a 3-2 lead going into the second quarter.

Garrett Murrell put his stamp on the first half with two goals and two assists. Wilmington won 80 percent of the faceoffs in the first half which allowed the Quakers to score four unanswered goals in the second quarter giving them a 7-2 lead at the half.

The second half of the game quickly turned into a night to remember for freshman Jacob Snyder as he scored eight goals in the second half. Wilmington's physical style of play gave the Quakers a 27-9 advantage in ground balls. Thanks in large part to Vincent Friesinger, the Quakers won the face-off battle 18-3. Wilmington dominated the shots category outshooting Spalding 52-19.

Up next, Ohio Athletic Conference play begins with the Quakers traveling to University Heights to play John Carroll University at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
