Tristen Durr

Tristen Durr

After four years as an assistant coach, Tristen Durr was named Wilmington College's head track & field coach on June 20, 2023. He enters his second season as the Head Track & Field coach in 2024-25. He will remain an assistant with the men's and women's cross country teams.

In his first year as head coach in 2023-24, five Quakers earned First Team All-American honors and three Quakers earned multiple First Team All-American honors, along with Faith Duncan being named the Outdoor 5,000 Meter Run National Champion. This list of All-Americans included Duncan (Indoor 3,000 Meter Run & Outdoor 5,000 Meter Run), Nathen Borgan (Weight Throw & Hammer Throw), JJ Durr (Weight Throw & Hammer Throw), Brady Vilvens (Outdoor High Jump), and Simon Heys (Outdoor 10,000 Meter Run). Durr also helped guide Heys to an All-American nod in Cross Country. The Quakers men's track & field team finished the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a program best eighth place finish, scoring 25 points. 

Over the last four years, Durr has elevated the WC throws squad to the best in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) and one of the best in the Great Lakes Region as well as NCAA Division III. Five Quakers have qualified for the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships (indoor & outdoor combined) including his brother, JJ Durr, and Nathen Borgan earning All-American honors at the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. At that meet, Durr helped guide WC to a ninth-place finish.

Prior to Wilmington, Durr was a two-time All-American in the hammer throw at Tiffin University. Durr placed placed eighth at the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championship in the event and holds Tiffin's school record of 212' 6". Durr was also the 2017 OAC Champion in the hammer throw while attending Heidelberg University.

Durr’s list of accomplishments also includes being named All-Region four times, two-time All-OAC honoree, two-time ALL-GMAC and being an All-Ohio Champion in the Hammer Throw.

Durr resides in Wilmington.
