WC wins nine events in victory

BEREA - The Wilmington College men's swimming team won nine events in posting the 126-78 victory Saturday over Baldwin Wallace in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

"It was a great win for the men's team," said head coach Trip Breen. "They were intense and ready to race. It was fun to watch. We are off to a fast start. I am really impresses with some of the guys."

Senior Mikey Spraul (Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) and freshman Erik Spraul (Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) each won two individual events and a were a part of a winning relay team.

Erik Spraul won the 200 individual medley (2:06.38) and the 100 freestyle (50.04), while swimming the third leg of Wilmington's 200 medley relay. Mikey Spraul won the 200 freestyle (1:48.39) and the 100 backstroke (53.93) and swam the opening leg of the victorious 200 freestyle relay (1:30.66).

Sophomore David Hawk (Edison, OH/Mount Gilead) had his best in-season meet of his career, according to Breen. He finished second in the 50 freestyle (23.02) and the 100 freestyle (50.65), and then swam the third leg of WC's victorious 200 freestyle relay team.

Another swimmer that turned in a personal best in-season race was junior Mason Harris (Westerville, OH/Central). After finishing second in the 1000 freestyle (10:27.39), he turned around and won the 100 butterfly (56.77).



Wilmington returns to the pool 6 p.m. Friday with a home meet against Ohio Northern.
