ROCHESTER, NY – The Wilmington College men's soccer team fell to 0-2 for the second straight season as St. John Fisher scored twice in the last 15 minutes of the contest to post the 2-1 victory Sunday at the Flower City Invitational at Rochester University.

Wilmington has yielded six of their seven goals in the last 20 minutes of games.

"I think with our injuries sustained over the last two days, not to make an excuse, took a toll on our depth," said head coach Bud Lewis. "Our fitness is an issue for this team."

It was very physical game that featured 33 fouls and five yellow cards. The Cardinals had 24 of the 33 fouls, while WC was given four of the five yellow cards.

"I was very disappointed," said Lewis of the yellow cards. "We had a couple of stupid yellow cards. We will be doing a lot of running in practice. They were all preventable."

Wilmington took the lead late in the first half as junior Martin Holmquist (Karlstad, Sweden/Alvkulle Gymnasiet) scored off a corner kick in the game's 43rd minute. Freshman Albin Blomberg (Oreboro, Sweden/Virgin Smelar) assisted on the goal. It was Wilmington's lone shot in the first half.

Junior Evan Schlagetter (Sidney, OH/Sidney) almost gave the Quakers a 2-0 lead, but his shot clanged off the post. One minute later, the Cardinals achieved the equalizer in the 76th minute, and then tallied the game-winner in the 86th minute.

Lewis wasn't pleased with his team's inability to generate offense. Both of Wilmington's goals during the Flower City Invitational came off set pieces. The Quakers only managed three shots in each game.

Wilmington (0-2) will be off until hosting the Kiwanis Classic. WC plays Birmingham Southern 7:30 p.m. Friday after Marietta plays Wittenberg at 5 p.m.
