Career high for McCorkle in loss

BEREA – The Wilmington College men's basketball team surrendered 12 of the game's 14 points and fell to Baldwin Wallace 90-71 Saturday at Ursprung Gymnasium in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

"We came out flat and not ready to play, and they had a lot of juice on their Senior Night," said Wilmington head coach K.C. Hunt. "We didn't match their energy and effort. It was a tough loss."

The loss eliminated the Fightin' Quakers from the opportunity to have a home game in the upcoming OAC Tournament. Wilmington still has a one-game lead for the fifth seed and a possible return trip to Berea for the first round.

Senior Dwight Johnson (Dayton, OH/Jefferson) and junior Zach McCorkle (Cincinnati, OH/Winton Woods) were the bright spots for the Fightin' Quakers as they combined for 33 of the team's 70 points.

"Zach was great, and he really competed," said Hunt. "The same can be said about Dwight. But, this is a team sport and we didn't play well enough to beat a good team."

McCorkle finished with a career-high 17 points (8-of-13 shooting) with eight rebounds, while Johnson added 16 points, four assists, three steals and three rebounds.

Wilmington (10-12 overall, 7-9 OAC) travels to New Concord 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to face Muskingum in its final regular season road game of the season.
