Wrestling Competes at OAC Duals at Heidelberg

RESULTS

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Wilmington College wrestling team dropped three Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) dual matches at the OAC duals hosted by Heidelberg University on Sunday. The Fightin' Quakers fell to the host Student Princes 54-0, the University of Mount Union 39-15 and Otterbein University 39-18. 

In the loss to Heidelberg, two individuals - Skyler Cowgill (184-pound weight class) and Shadrach Brausch (285-pound weight class) - avoided being pinned as Cowgill fell to Nolan Hatten by a 10-5 decision and Brausch to Jace Grossman 11-8 by decision. The Student Princes won all other flights by either forfeit (2) or pin (6). 

In the loss to Mount Union, the Quakers won 3-of-4 heavyweight weight classes as Alex Hobbs won a 4-2 decision over Alex Carrother in the 174-pound weight class. Tackett pinned Warren Gentile in three minutes in the 197-pound battle while Brausch took a forfeit victory at 285. The Purple Raiders won all other flights except one - the 165-pound weight class - by pin or forfeit. At 165, Kristopher Jones earned a 12-6 decision over Trey Williams

In the loss to Otterbein, Wilmington once again relied on the heavier-weighted classes to score its points. Hobbs and Brausch earned pins in 2:44 and 48 seconds respectively while Williams picked up a forfeit victory. 

Wilmington heads to Defiance College on Feb. 6.
